A few days ago, my class, 7c, and another class, 7b, went to visit the Redpath sugar factory museum. As our guide was so kind as to point out, we were not allowed into the actual factory because we were dirty. Inside the museum, we watched a video of sugar being made and learned that sugar came from two plants : cane and beet. Of course, the beets are not the same ones that grandma Lili pickles, as our very visual guide put it, they are white and the size of my head. Although there were no free samples, we got to admire all the Hary Potter characters made out of sugar and learn a few facts about John
A little off topic, today was pyjama day at school, and I never realised how walking around in PJ's all day could make you feel so sleepy.

Humans are typically the dirtiest animal in the kingdom. It is an astonishing fact because we have a rather inflated idea of ourselves. But there you go, too dirty for sugar even - it puts a smile on my face.
Today is dress-down day at school here (we have uniforms), the kids have to pay to come out of uniform on dress-down days 10HKD ($1.30) if they come in character for the theme set or 20HKD ($2.70) if they do not come in character.
The money raised is then given to one of the charities that the students at school support. This month it is all going to Haiti.
Did you get a free bag of sugar to take home?
Unfortunately, no give-outs. It's a great idea, the dress-down. What was the theme?
The last dress down day (DDD as they call it) was GEEK day. It was very easy for me to dress correctly for this. Combing my hair sideways always frightens Sharon.
